CASE STUDY PAGE 10 Courtlands Village Courtlands Village is an aged care facility located within a garden setting at Parramatta in Sydney’s West. Courtlands provides accommodation tailored to the needs of 144 residents, with progressive levels of medical support and a wide range of social and recreational activities. The Vista offers high care to frail, elderly residents. The Terrace features low care, individual apartments, whilst The Grove offers support and care for residents with dementia. The Grange offers a higher level of quality, comfort and elegance than the standard generally found in aged care communities. Courtlands has a strong staff training culture that serves the needs of 220 employees, with its own training manager and excellent onsite training facilities. Several Registered Training Organisations have supplied courses which complement the role of the in-house training manager, but the company was not satisfied with the level of support they received for their training. In recent years, legislation has mandated better quality services for all aged care communities, particularly in the areas of food safety and food serving etiquette. Courtlands also wanted to improve the general skills across its workforce to prepare its staff for the transition to a new computer system.
